Annual UKC Obedience & Rally Trials
The SLODOG UKC two day Obedience and Rally show scheduled for September 2011 did not take place this year. The club filed with UKC to skip this year but keep the assigned weekend for the future. Two club members generously volunteered to be Co-Trial Secretaries, but unfortunately time is too short to get an Obedience Chair, Rally Chair and secured judges before the paperwork is due to UKC for approval. 2011 would have been our 9th year for Obedience trials and 3rd year for Rally trails. Planning for the 2012 UKC show will begin this fall. Past shows have been well attended and enjoyed by many participants from all over California. We look forward to hosting a wonderful show in Sept 2012. Past members worked hard to become a UKC club, please help keep the tradition going!
SLODOG chose to be sanctioned by the United Kennel Club because UKC allows ALL dogs, not just purebred dogs, to participate in sanctioned events, and we wanted mixed breed dogs to have local obedience trial opportunities.
The United Kennel Club is the second oldest and the second largest all-breed dog registry in the United States. Founded in 1898, the registry has always supported the idea of the total dog, meaning a dog that looks good AND performs well.
All participants in UKC-sponsored events MUST be registered with the UKC; the UKC accepts mixed breed as well as pure-bred dogs. If your dog is not yet UKC-registered and you would like information about registering, visit the UKC registration pages.
